The Individualists: Stories of Gentlemen's Wardrobes
This season we look at the lives of five unique personas and discover the collective trend for colour, design ingenuity and mood: The Urban Outsider, the Subverted Conservative, the Refined Creative, the Academic, and the Story Collector.
Micro trends collectively form one story – timeless capsule collections within one wardrobe. Every piece is an element of the wardrobe worth investing in, ignoring the edicts of seasonal dressing; the tie is just as important as the blazer. Wool overcoats sharpen the silhouette, with buggy-lined blazers layered upon sumptuous knits in chunky and brushed yarns in waffle effects in a salt and pepper colourway. Fleck effects cross over into tweeds modernising the traditional sturdy cloth. Sensible corduroy is cut sharply, refined and neat, mixed with formal fabrics and flashes of pop colour.
Breaking the suit adds a retro-contemporary take. Jackets and trousers that compliment each other rather than match shrugs off the stiffness of convention whilst remaining polished. The effect is subtle yet the small adjustment adds a subverted sartorial touch.
We styled a couple of the looks with new pieces from our accessories collections to give you the full TE wardrobe overall, bringing out the subtle suit cloth highlights and lining colours with a sparky tie or sock.
The first look we've put together is a dogstooth check jacket (with striking yellow melton undercollar), £550, casualised with a black Sunspel 007 polo, £125, our black Japanese selvedge denim jeans, £300, and yellow Sea Island cotton socks, £15, and 4-colour yellow silk hanky, £25.
